Adult Volleyball Clinics

From time to time during the year, the IVL sponsors some adult volleyball clinics at Wilcox High School in the city of Santa Clara, or at Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale. Both individuals and teams can sign up. Clinics are usually on Saturdays for four hours (with an hour of optional open play afterwards). Cost for clinic is $50/person.

Clinics are generally held in February, May and December. Send some e-mail to the IVL office to be added to the clinic mailing list.

Virtually all the skills in volleyball are covered along with team defense and offense. Individuals are broken up into groups ahead of time so they can go through the drills with other players of similar backgrounds. You can view photos of past clinics.

Coaches for the past clinics have included Kerrie Walsh (member of the USA Women's Olympic Team), Cary Wendell (2-time NCAA player of the year from Stanford), John Kosty (former All-American and currently the assistant coach for the Stanford men's volleyball team), Rob Patrick (former collegiate and national coed player, formerly the assistant coach for the Stanford women's team), Lisa Sharpley, Barbara Ifejika, Wendy Hromadka, Marnie Triefenbach, Laurie Sawin Quinn, Anne Wicks, and Debbie Lambert (former members of the NCAA National Champion Stanford Cardinal women's volleyball team -- Anne Wicks is a former assistant coach for the Stanford team), Brian Garrett (former Stanford Men's team member), Craig Lauchner (former member of Stanford Men's and U.S. national teams), Samantha Shaver (former All-American at UCLA and former member of the national team), Joyce Rimbach (All-American from the coed national champion Just Volleyball team), Jon Clough (local juniors' coach and former assistant coach for the Stanford Women's team), Jennifer Detmer and Lindsay Kagawa (former members of the Stanford Cardinal women's volleyball team), Mal Taylor (former high school and college coach and All-American from the USA Nationals), and Phil Coyle (coach at both Menlo-Atherton and Fremont High Schools and current NCVA player with the Fog men's AA team).
