IVL Summer Beach League

We have officially confirmed court time so I am happy to announce IVL's first beach leagues to be played at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium this summer!

Stanford built this state of the art, four court facility in 2015 and it is truly one of the nicest places to play in Northern California. If you've ever hopped the fence for pickup games or watched a Stanford Women's Beach match, you know how cool and special this venue is. We are one of the first outside groups with rental access and are really excited to bring a couple of leagues here.

Note: With only two leagues running this Summer season we expect them to fill up quickly. Please make sure to register ASAP as we are accepting teams in order of submission.

Like IVL indoor, each season is 9 weeks long, with 8 weeks of regular play followed by playoffs. The leagues start on Tuesday, June 23 and playoffs will be Tuesday, August 18. First serve is at 7:00pm and we finish each night by 9:30pm. Each evening teams will play two matches and be responsible for reffing one match. A match is two straight sets to 21.

League fees will be $600 for Coed 4's and $900 for Coed 6's.

FORMATS + RULES

Coed - 4v4

• Upper Intermediate level (BB). Teams of 4 players (2 men, 2 women).
• 4 players on court: 2 men, 2 women
• Teams rotate serve; may play any position otherwise
• Open-hand tips/dinks are prohibited
• Overhand sets over the net allowed only if shoulders are parallel to net and ball travels perpendicular
• Open-hand serve receive is allowed if no obvious double-hit or carry
• Rally scoring; matches will be played to 21 (win by 2)
• Switch sides between games

Coed - 6v6

• Intermediate level (B to BB). Teams of 6 players (3 men, 3 women).
• 6 players on court: 3 men, 3 women (max 3 men at any time)
• Players rotate positions; must hold position until serve is contacted
• At least 4 players (min. 2 women) must be on court to avoid forfeit
• Rally scoring; matches will be played to 21 (win by 2)
• Standard beach volleyball rules apply - no libero
• Switch sides between games

Want to play? Please fill out and submit your beach application. Teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Free agents are also welcome to register, and we will match you with an appropriate team if possible.

2. Personal Check - Mailed checks must be received by Tuesday, June 16.
